No New Posts Daniel Wayne Smith (January 22, 1986 – September 10, 2006)

Daniel was the son of the American model and actress Anna Nicole and Billy Wayne Smith. Smith died in his mother's hospital room while visiting her at the maternity ward in Doctors Hospital in (Nassau, Bahamas), on September 10, 2006, just 3 days after she had given birth to his half-sister Dannielynn Hope Marshall. Cyril Wecht, an American forensic pathologist, stated Daniel Smith accidentally overdosed on methadone, Zoloft and Lexapro.
During a press conference on September 12, Barry Rassin, President and CEO of the hospital, said,Daniel was "observed to be asleep," but at 9:38 a.m. a nurse was called and doctors were summoned after Daniel was found to be "unresponsive." After CPR "resuscitation efforts using advanced life support protocol continued for 22 minutes without response" Daniel Smith was pronounced dead at 10:05 a.m."
On September 18, Getty Images sold the last photos taken of Daniel Smith alive at his mother's bedside to In Touch Weekly, Entertainment Tonight, and The Insider for a total of at least US$650,000.
On September 14 an attorney, Michael Scott, read a prepared statement. "The devastation and grief over Daniel's sudden death coupled with the sedation has been so extreme that Anna Nicole experienced memory loss of the event," "Anna Nicole was so distraught at the loss of Daniel that she refused to leave his side and it was necessary to sedate her in order to check her out of the hospital," Scott said that the third person in the room at the time of the death was another one of Anna Nicole Smith's attorneys, Howard K. Stern. It "was necessary for Howard to tell Anna again that Daniel had passed away". On September 20 authorities issued a death certificate for the son of Anna Nicole Smith but left the cause of death undetermined pending toxicology tests. Scott was severely critical of Coroner Linda P. Virgill press statements. "Unless she's psychic or God, unless the pathologists know the cause of death, how does she?"

Board Description
Anna Nicole Smith (born Vickie Lynn Hogan; November 28, 1967 – February 8, 2007)
On February 8, 2007, Smith was found dead in room 607 at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, Florida. Tasma Brighthaupt, a friend of Smith who was a trained emergency nurse, performed CPR for 15 minutes until her husband, Maurice "Big Moe" Brighthaupt, Smith's friend and bodyguard, took over CPR. He had driven back to the hotel after being notified by his wife of Smith's condition. According to Seminole Police Chief Charlie Tiger, at 1:38 p.m. (EST) Maurice Brighthaupt, who was also a trained paramedic, called the hotel front desk from her sixth-floor room. The front desk in turn called security, who then called 911. At 1:45 p.m. (EST) the bodyguard administered CPR until paramedics arrived and Smith was rushed to Memorial Regional Hospital at 2:10 p.m. (EST) and pronounced dead on arrival at 2:49 p.m. (EST)
A phone call was released to the public on February 13, 2007, involving Seminole police and the local 911 operators, saying:
We need assistance to Room 607 at the Hard Rock. It's in reference to a white female. She's not breathing and not responsive... actually, it's Anna Nicole Smith.
After a 7week investigation led by Broward County Medical Examiner and Forensic Pathologist Dr. Joshua Perper in combination with the Seminole police and several independent forensic pathologists and toxicologists, Dr. Perper announced that Smith died of combined drug intoxication with the sleeping medication chloral hydrate as the major component. her death was ruled a drug overdose of the sedative chloral hydrate that became increasingly lethal when combined with other prescription drugs in her system, specifically 4 benzodiazepines: Klonopin(Clonazepam), Ativan(Lorazepam), Serax(Oxazepam), and Valium(Diazepam). Furthermore, she had taken Benadryl(Diphenhydramine)and Topamax(Topiramate), an anticonvulsant AMPA/Kainate antagonist, which likely contributed to the sedative effect of chloral hydrate and the benzodiazepines. The benzodiazepines combination with a high dose of chloral hydrate led to her overdose.
