Saturday, April 25 2015: 7.8 magnitude Earthquake in Nepal between the capital of Kathmandu and the city of Pokhara killing 8,199 people spanning 4 countries, and causing avalanches on and around Mount Everest and at least 15 aftershocks of magnitude 4.5 or greater had been felt in Nepal so far, the USGS said. Tremors were felt as far as New Delhi, more than 200 miles away in neighboring India at magnitude 5.0.
In the 1934 quake, which was 8.0 magnitude and centered near Mount Everest, more than 10,000 people were reported killed.
The avalanche on Mount Everest killed 18 climbers and injured at least 15 who have been flown to Kathmandu from Lukla.
